BRIDGEPORT, CT - At approximately 6:00am on December 31, 2015, the Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched to 215 Charles Street for a structure fire. While en route, Battalion 1 was updated to new information that there was report of a vehicle on fire under the structure. Once on scene, companies found several vehicles fully involved in the parking area under a 36-unit, wood framed, condominium complex. A quick interior attack was commenced into the garage area, while several companies operated on the floors above in an aggressive primary search of the complex. It appeared that all of the residents had escaped the fire safely, but the fire had already started to spread into the upper floors. Firefighters in the parking garage were soon after pushed out due to untenable conditions. The fire would spread throughout the whole structure before being put under control several hours later. In the end, over 100 people were left homeless.
