Tourists who shot egrets caught on CCTV goes viral
Tourists shoot egrets caught on CCTV cameras and go viral on Facebook.
In CCTV footage filmed on December 30, 2018, man with air rifle followed by barefoot men carrying egrets by holding bodies and strangling the necks of living egrets. They then put the bird in a plastic bag.
Bagus Cavalera uploader said, Tono Nugrhoho (a Home Stay employee where CCTV installed) warned not to shoot and kill egrets, but tourists argued only shot one bird.
Without feeling guilty about shooting a protected bird, these tourists left the location.
Action of a tourists group was criticized on the internet for killing animals that were not pests.
According to Bagus, egrets are protected animals in this area. Not far from this location there is the village of Ketingan Hamlet which is a tourist village where thousands of white egrets habitat.
There egrets become friends of farmers as they eat grasshoppers as rice pests.
