A policeman has shot into fame with his frantic efforts to clear traffic for a stranded ambulance.

Traffic policeman Renjith Kumar Radhakrishnan was on duty in Kottayam in South India on December 30 when an ambulance got stuck in nasty traffic.

The narrow road leading to Kottayam Medical College was jammed with vehicles blocking the way for the ambulance carrying a critical patient.

Dashcam footage from the ambulance shows Radhakrishnan clearing the road and running in front moving vehicles aside.

Thanks to his efforts, the ambulance reached the hospital without further delay and the patient could be saved.

Senior police officers commended Radhakrishnan for his effort and said he would be rewarded.
