This video was shot at Jozini dam during a tiger fishing charter, we fished near a crocodile basking in the sun and Hippo grunting in the water, 20 minutes later a tour boat came past and sat at the shore line waiting for the elephants to make their way down for a swim, we waited a while as the male bull first made its way down to the shore line. While the male elephant bull was heading toward the tour boat the male Hippo disappeared under water suddenly, we started to panic thinking he might pop up right near us or worse tip our boat over... To our surprise the Hippo resurfaced 50ft away from the tour boat on the shoreline. The Hippo just watched as the male bull walked within a couple feet of the boat, the Ranger on the tour boat has known the elephants for 15 years or more and they come down and listen to her speak. Most incredible experience watching the largest land animal enjoying the company of the Ranger.
