Man trying to hypnotise wild elephant trampled to death in Sri Lanka

A tragic video has emerged of a man being trampled to death while trying to hypnotise a wild elephant in Sri Lanka. The 41-year-old man was leading a group of tourists on an a wild elephants safari at the Weheragala Border in Yala.

The horrific video shows the angry tusker running towards the man and trampling him under its feet. People could be heard crying and helplessly watching the man's life ebb out under the feet of the giant.


According to a senior official at the Yala National Park, the deceased was intoxicated.

Chandana Sooriyabandara, the director general of the department of wildlife said: “The act of getting down from a vehicle and idling at a national park is against the law. That anyone who does something similar in future will be brought to justice.”
