75-YO man travels, playing violin, to raise money for wife with cancer
Swapan Sett, 75, can be spotted playing his soulful violin in cafes and even street corners across India.
The man from Kolkata has been travelling across the country for nearly a decade now raising money for his wife’s cancer treatment.
He also sells his CDs and paintings to collect the money.
Sett’s wife was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2002 and is undergoing treatment in Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai.
Sett hit the road after that and travels for several months in a year raising funds with his violin.
A Bhopal-based businessman Kuldeep Parakh had gone to a mall for lunch with his friends when he spotted Sett playing. Moved by the music, Parakh spoke to him, was astonished with his story, and made a small donation.
In 2016, a group of netizens came together to raise money for Sett. Evidently, it has not been enough and the man continues with his gruelling travel.
Sett, says, "I still have responsibilities, so my journey will continue."
