Toddler run over by van miraculously survives in India
A CCTV footage has emerged of a baby that cheated death after being run over by a mini van in Jammu, India.
The video shows the toddler trying to cross the road apparently to reach to his mother on the other side of the road as a speeding van runs over him. Much to the surprise of numbed onlookers, he emerges unscathed from under the wheel.
The CCTV footage of the incident that happened some four months ago in Rajouri area has resurfaced after a similar incident in Gujarat triggered a debate on miraculous escapes in social media.
In Kota town, a woman was run over by a truck while she stopped to pray in the middle of the road. Like the toddler in Jammu, the woman from Gujarat too cheated death. But not every one is that lucky. In India, 15 people die in road accidents in an hour -- many of them jay walkers.
Amit Sharma, a resident of Jammu in Rajouri, said: "In this video, it seems the driver of the van had little to do. The mother of the toddler had gone across the road to fetch something, leaving the toddler on the other side of the road. It is but natural for the kid to follow his mother. You cannot expect a toddler to know how the traffic works or how one should cross the road. I think parents should me more vigilant when they go out with their wards."
