This is the heart-rending moment when a monkey was seeing mourning the death of its baby which was hit by a speeding car in a small town in north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The tragic video shows the mom mourning over the lifeless body of its child and wouldn't let anyone come near her.

The incident happened in front of Puranpur Kotwali police station in Pilibhit. The cops had a tough time to removing the body of the baby monkey. As the news spread of the demise of one of their community members, more and more monkeys started thronging the area creating quite a ruckus.

It took the cops nearly four hours to drive away the army of monkey that had virtually surrounded the police station and brought traffic to a standstill in that particular stretch of the road for hours.
The grieving mother had couldn't come to terms with the fact that her baby was no more. She vehemently and at times violently resisted any effort to separate her from the lifeless body of her baby.
After hours of toiling, the cops finally managed to reclaiming the body from the grieving mother and buried the body in the ground.

Even after the last rites were performed, the mother kept looking for her baby and attacked anybody that came in the way. It keep roaming around the area looking for her lost child.
