This video shows an Air Traffic Control incident at Manchester Airport, as a Flybe Dash 8-Q400 was forgotten about as on final approach. Here is the situation...

A Flybe Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 was on final approach to Manchester Airport (MAN/EGCC) while a Brussels Airlines Avro RJ100 (BAE146) was holding short of the runway ready for takeoff. A few miles behind the Flybe turboprop was a heavy Airbus A330 of Air Transat. Just as an Easyjet Airbus A320 lifts off the runway, the next aircraft to land (the Flybe DH8D) should've been cleared to land. This is where the Air Traffic Controller made a mistake, forgetting about the Flybe and clearing the Air Transat A330, the second aircraft on the approach, to land. Next she clears the Brussels RJ100 holding short of the runway to lineup "behind the landing A330". Thankfully the pilots of the Flybe DH8D had noticed the controller's mistake and at just 500ft notified ATC, asking the controller to confirm they were indeed cleared to land and not the Air Transat following behind on the approach. After realising the problem, ATC apologises and informs the Flybe pilots they are cleared to land. The pilots of the Dash make light of the situation saying "I thought I was a big airbus then!", referring to the A330 behind them that had been cleared to land. Luckily all ended safely without any major problems thanks to the switched on Flybe crew and the actions taken by the controller after the mistake was pointed out. Good job all!
