A video has emerged of a controversial effigy of former Scottish National Party leader Alex Salmond being blown up at a bonfire night celebration in Lewes, East Sussex.

The video shows the gigantic likeness being destroyed with fireworks as a crowd of spectators look on.

According to local reports, the event went ahead despite an outcry on social media leading to attempts by police to block the occasion.
