A mishap has been reported near Maujpur Metro Station in north east Delhi.. where a road caved in several feet on 14th January night - leading to a car and autorickshaw falling in the Pit. While no injuries have been reported so far, disaster Management Team reached the spot and took charge of the situation. An SUV and an autorickshaw were damaged after it fall in cave locals managed to evacuate the occupants before the police arrived at the spot. An inquiry has been initiated into the incident.
A case of negligence will be registered after inquiry on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) Atul Kumar Thakur said a section of the road near the newly constructed Maujpur metro station suddenly caved in at 9 p.m. The locals rushed to the spot and safely pulled out the occupants from the two vehicles. The Delhi Fire Service and the Public Works Department were also informed about the incident. Officials suspect that a leak in a water pipeline led to the road collapse. The spot was barricaded and traffic diverted through Shahdara and Brahmpuri, said a traffic police officer.
