Low temperatures caused power lines to spark, and subsequently more than 300 households to lose power, Monday in the southwestern province of Sichuan, China.

In the videos filmed by residents, the cables can be heard sizzling, the sound similar to the crackling of fireworks.

On-site traffic police rushed to the scene to evacuate pedestrians and vehicles.

Local media reported that the sparking was a result of the lines having to take on an increased power load due to the drop in temperature. The lines are currently being repaired.

14日上午，四川雅安市荥经县城内一段电缆发生故障，数十米的电线伴随着噼里啪啦的声响，电花四射。
视频中可以看到，发生故障的电缆摇摇晃晃，不间断的迸发着电火花。
现场交警立即对相关路段进行临时管制，疏散行人和车辆。
经过供电部门工作人员的排查，此次故障是低温天气导致用电负荷剧增，线路出现故障引起，目前正在抢修中，事故也造成三百余户居民停电。
