Fluorescent hay figures become popular tourist attraction in northern Thailand

These impressive figures made from hay were transformed into a stunning light show which is attracting tourists.

The display in Maha Sarakham, the northeastern part of Thailand, is found in a 13-acre field, attracting more people to visit throughout January.

Tourists, including children and elders, enjoyed a park in the big field and astonished by colourful bright lights decorating on hay animal figures.

The fair was becoming a new tourist attraction which could promote tourism industry of Maha Sarakham Province.

The most unique figure was the three-headed Arawon Elephant, a mythological figure, above a three metre high tunnel. Visitors would walk through the tunnel as if they were walking under the Arawon Elephant which was known for God of luck and happiness.

Parinya Mahachot, the committee member of the hay event, said: ''The reason why we create figures out of hay because it is always a part of Thai tradition as in agriculture and livestock.

''I hope this hay park will bring many good memories and will show foreigners the rural life of Thai people.''
