Before and after video show how bungling workmen built a row of telegraph poles in the middle of the road - only to move them a few weeks later.

Residents were baffled after 10 of the concrete posts were slapped along the winding road in Bali, Indonesia, last month.

Road users complained about the hazard and the builders were forced to trudge back to remove the poles and pitch them on the grassy verge.

Motorist Mulvi Noor said: ''I don't know how the builders thought it was the right thing to do. Most people know that roads should not have posts in the way.

''It was so dangerous because at night time it is very dark and easy for people to crash. I was one of the people who complained.

''The builders had to return to move all of the poles to the side of the road.''

The National Electricity Company (PLN) said they removed the poles after receiving complaints from motorists.

The company said that the poles were a result of a road widening project done by the government. They had to replace the old wooden poles with concrete ones.
