Car seemingly loses control and crashes into lorry on motorway
I was driving home from work after a 10 hour nightshift. I had set off at around 6:50am and would have been home by 7:15am, approximately a 15 mile trip. I was very tired and just cruising in the left hand lane (slow lane in Britain) and was gaining on slower traffic which I intended to overtake. I saw a Peugeot in my rear view mirror gaining on me, but also noticed their driving was a little erratic - their lane discipline was quite poor, the car seemed to be drifting toward my lane and me, before going back to the centre of their lane. The Peugeot eventually passed me and so then I pulled into the fast lane behind them to overtake the slower traffic ahead of me, but also keeping a good distance away from the Peugeot as I had a bad feeling about that car/driver.
He overtook the smaller lorry ahead of us and then proceeded to overtake the bigger lorry/truck/18 wheeler (at this point I was overtaking the smaller lorry) and it was then the Peugeot suddenly and abruptly veered toward the trailer of the big lorry - I remember thinking at the time "WHAT is he doing! Please don't crash, I'm too tired, I want to go home to bed!".
Sadly, the Peugeot driver realised too late what he was about to do and tried to take an evasive manoeuvre/over compensated, but only succeeded in losing complete control of his car and proceeded to side swipe/ram the side of the lorry trailer twice before spinning off to the right into the central crash barrier.
The smaller lorry and I were both braking as the crash occurred and ended up side by side with the wreckage of the Peugeot in front of us.
