Young inventor Mikalah Stricking successfully transformed a discarded pedal raft into a motorised boat.

Footage shows the 12-year-old girl demonstrating all the steps to attach an electric motor to the worn out pedal boat.

She can be seen later testing the newly motorised watercraft with her little brother by going for a ride at Avoca Lake in New South Wales, Australia.

''The boat performed very well, travelling at about 6 knots and being easy to steer,'' the filter said.

''Mikalah exclaimed that this was her favourite build yet, probably because it didn’t sink when put into the water and actually moved forward and could be steered.''

Mikalah appeared as an inventor on Little Big Shots Australia in 2018 and has her own YouTube channel called ‘Invent With Mikky’.

This discarded pedal hire boat which no longer had any functioning parts was transformed into an electric boat by 12 year old inventor/ creator Mikalah Strickling.
The boat had been advertised for free on Gumtree by the Aquasplash hire company at Avoca Lake NSW Australia, and Mikalah’s father, Jacob Strickling organised for the water craft to be dropped off.
Mikalah first used a screwdriver to remove the rear hatch.
A 12 volt car size battery was then added.
Mikalah measured and cut a block of wood using a drop saw. This block was then glued and screwed into place. The electric motor bracket was then screwed into place. A 24 pound thrust electric trolling outboard motor was then slid into the motor bracket. A steering arm was then added by way of a long plastic pole. This would allow both the pilot or the passenger to steer the craft. Finally a switch was connected in order to operate the motor.
The electrified watercraft was then tested on Terrigal lagoon. Mikalah took her 10 year old brother Samuel for the first test drive. The boat performed wry well, travelling at about 6 knots and being easy to steer.
Mikalah exclaimed that this was her favourite build yet (probably because it didn’t sink when put into the water and actually moved forward and could be steered! Unlike a number of recent failures eg electrified bumper rings and a supposedly amphibious bulldozer which she is thinking about calling the submarine bulldozer!)
