Venezuela Rally in Midtown Manhattan, NYC

A large crowd gathered around 7pm in front of the Bolivar statue along Central Park South in Midtown to show support for the highly contested victory for the presidency of Juan Guaido in Venezuela and to protest the current president's government for not relinquishing office.

More than 100 supporters gathered at the statue in New York and sang songs, beat drums, and cheered loudly as police called in reinforcements to protect the unscheduled rally as it spilled into the street. Many of those who showed up wore the blue, red, and yellow colors of the Venezuelan flag as hats and shirts, flags were being waved and worn as capes, and a generally positive attitude seemed to be the mood.

This rally comes on the same day as hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans marched through Caracas in support of the Democratic process and the newly elected leader.
