New Year's Eve (December 31) wasn't a time for celebration for one New York couple as they were involved in a crazy altercation that resulted in police being called.

The fight that happened on the Upper West Side of Manhattan shows an ill-clad man in his underwear being ganged up on by several men and subdued, with one pinning him against the steps of a building.

A lady friend of the half-naked man comes to his aid with a baseball bat and swings at the attackers, driving them back.

After many back and forths with each party, the police eventually arrive and the situation de-escalates.

The filmer said: "No idea how it started just woke up to yelling outside the window at 7 am.

They were throwing punches further down the street and then I grabbed my camera to start recording at this point."

He later added: "Those are Fresh Direct delivery guys. It’s a grocery delivery service."
