This is the terrifying moment a leopard launches an attack on residents of Jalandhar city in northern India.

The wild cat was spotted inside a house this morning (January 31).

Police and Forest Department officials arrived at the scene to capture the animal using a tranquilliser gun.

Footage shows the wild cat attacking an official before jumping up a wall and running away through an alley and across a field nearby, attacking at least six people on its rampage.

Attempts to capture the leopard have failed as the animal is still on the loose, according to latest reports.

In a shocking incident in Lamba Pind area of Jalandhar city on Thursday when a leopard was spotted in a house. The attempts to capture the wild cat led to the animal attacking at least six people, though none was injured seriously.
The last report came in around 4.30 pm, the leopard was yet to be captured, but was believed to be hiding in a house, after at least two attempts at administering sedation by forest officials.
The animal was spotted by a villager who informed the police. The Forest Department officials arrived & used a tranquiliser gun twice to sedate the leopard. A net was also thrown on the animal. After waiting for a while, a forest official approached the animal, but to his surprise, the leopard jumped up and escaped. In panic, the leopard ran outside across a field, in the process attacking six people, including a forest official.
The leopard was spotted entering another house, and the forest officials were planning to administer a third dose of tranquiliser.
The Forest department teams were engaged in effrorts to capture the big cat. Another team is expected from Chandigarh.
