A four-year-old adult male leopard was rescued in Dhar’s Bamanpuri village on Friday after it fell into a 30 feet deep well. The leopard injured a cow and picked up the two-year-old calf while hunting, The leopard fell to the well 30 feet down with the calf, the leopard jumped on a rock, while the calf fell into the water.
The villagers passing through the well in morning heard the leopard's roar, in the well, he was sitting in the rock. After this, the people reported it to the forest department. Rescue team started the campaign to save him from 1 a.m. night He was successful in removing leopard at five o'clock in the evening.
The forest department will be granting compensation to farmer whose calf was killed by the leopard. The leopard found a cavity in well’s wall where it climbed to protect itself from drowning.The forest department’s regional team from Indore rescued the big cat after three hours of intensive operation. The animal was found to be fit and was released in forested area.The well is located in village Bamanpuri, on boundary of Mandav and Dhamnod ranges of forest department.
The incident happened on 1 February in Dhar District Madhya Pradesh India.
