Passengers rescued after speeding train derails in India’s Bihar

Local villagers and officials rushed to rescue passengers after a train derailed on the early hours of February 3.

Nine coaches of the Delhi-bound Seemanchal Express derailed in Vaishali district of Bihar killing six people and injuring several.

The train was running at full speed when the accident occurred at around 3:58 am near Hajipur, officials said.

A team of doctors has rushed to the accident site from Sonpur and Barauni. Accident relief train has also moved for carrying out relief and rescue operations.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal stated that rescue and relief operations have begun.

A local resident Saroj (in video) said: “We came running out of our homes after hearing that there was a train accident. We are trying to help passengers.”
