Durban Safari with Tim Brown Tours - Rhino grazing next to our vehicle

Buy video

During my last 3 day Safari from Durban we were lucky enough to have many amazing sightings. One of them was of these White Rhino which were grazing next to our vehicle.

We cut the engine to ensure they would be relaxed with our presence and they were.

I explained a bit about the Red billed Ox-pecker which was feeding on the ticks inside the ear of the Rhino closest to us.

As Rhinos have pour eyesight not even seeing clearly at 30 meters it is common for them to approach without realizing how close they are to us.

This is what happened and the one Rhino got a small fright when he noticed us. To be honest it doesn't help when your eyes are fixed so low down on your head and therefore when feeding on tall grasses visibility is bad anyway...

Join us Tim Brown Tours for a customized experience. We offer Tours and Safaris out of Durban covering the amazing nature, history and culture South Africa has to offer.
