Commuters were in a a state of panic when they spotted a tiger pouncing on a biker in Chandrapur area of Maharashtra, a state in western India. The tiger was spotted on the road to Vardhalli, near the super thermal power station housing society.

As soon as the tiger leapt towards the rider from the bushes, the human frantically tried to steer past the animal but lost his balance and slipped on the road. It is believed he lost the grip on his moped. However, he soon got up and ran for his life.

The appearance of a big cat has incited fear among the residents and commuters. Even after the forest department’s order, the bushes on these areas have not been cleared.

Leopards and tigers are frequent visitors in these areas as the Thermal Power Stations have water sources near them. Reportedly, a family of the tigers live in that area.

In the past two years, the forest department has been scrutinising this area on priority since citizens have come across many incidents of tigers crossing the path.

This incident has evoked concerns. Meanwhile, forest officials reached the spot within a shot span of time and pacified the commuters.
