An amazing video has emerged of a helicopter being used to airlift an injured fisherman from a trawler in the north Atlantic.

The footage, captured by a crewmember on the deep water fishing vessel "Venture II" BF326 late last month, shows a rescue worker from Irish Coast Guard Rescue 115 descending from a helicopter to winch the man to safety in stormy conditions.

According to the filmer, the fisherman suffered a spinal injury and was taken to a hospital in Dublin, Ireland where he had an operation to stabilise his neck vertebrae with two pins and he will be off work for six months.
