Right wing group in India forces couples to get married on Valentine's Day
Hindu activists in south India were protesting Valentine’s Day as an example of western culture, by looking for couples out that day (February 14) and forcing them to get married.
The group was against celebrating the European holiday and were picking up couples roaming in places like parks, restaurants and pubs to make them undergo Hindu marriage rites.
Video of one of these encounters shows a boy tying the mangalsutra (A thread used in Hindu tradition during marriage) to a girl at Kandlakoya Oxygen Park located in Medchal district of Telangana.
The protesters could be heard saying it's an auspicious day as the boy 'tied the knot'. Later one of them is seen congratulating the boy.
Police probed into the incident and they found that the couple willingly got married despite the pressure.
