Competitive ice racing is in full flow as the icy weather hits Toronto leaving perfect conditions for the races to go ahead.

The snow is compacted into 10 to 15 foot bank around the ice track to stop the cars from skidding into spectators. Several cars are seen to be stuck in these banks with the drivers teaming up to set the cars free.

The events were originally held on frozen lakes and rivers but in the late 1970s, the Ontario championships moved to Minden, Ontario.
