The men dance on the burning fire during the fire festival
This is a festival held at the beginning of the lunar year of ethnic minorities in northern Vietnam. The festival is called "Dancing with Fire" or " Nhảy Lửa" in Vietnamese.
The fire dance festival is meant to give thanks to heaven and earth, gods have given a good season and also wish for a crop next year, the fire will bring warmth, luck to dispel the harshness of winter.
They will burn a huge pile of firewood in the yard and do rituals for the god of fire.
There will be 10 healthy men selected to jump into the fire. They used their hands and feet to touch the embers and the burning fire. They will throw the burning embers up high. These men will eat hot embers to gain strength. The strange thing is that these men did not burn when exposed to the fire. They said that the fire god protected them so that they would not burn and injured because of fire.
When they jumped into the fire they didn't feel hot and when they held the embers they didn't feel it hot.
When they put hot embers in their mouths, it felt like their strength increased.
