Leopard spotted near Thane's Korum Mall, search initiated to find elusive predator

A leopard was caught frequenting near a residential area in western India’s Maharashtra. The latest incident, which was reported from the state’s Thane city, located on the outskirts of Mumbai, falls under a series of leopard sighting which has been reported from Maharashtra.

The big cat’s presence was also caught on CCTV cameras installed at the exit gate of Korum Mall.

According to the footage, the leopard was seen climbing the stairs of a building and moving towards an area that looked like a lobby.

According to reports, a search for the animal has been initiated as leopard wasn’t seen thereafter.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning at around 5:30 a.m.

In a related incident, a leopard was spotted and caught after eight hours from the state’s Nashik district.

The animal had wandered off into a residential area, triggering a panic among locals.

A forest official was also injuring during the standoff with the animal, as the latter clawed at the former’s face.

In the month of January, another leopard had frequented the same area in Nashik, injuring a local politician and two others, before it was caught by forest department workers.
