This is the shocking moment a rookie driver smashed their way through a showroom window while trying a new car in northern India on Monday (February 18).

She also rammed into two cars parked outside, causing damage the equivalent of around £5,300 - nearly half the price of the car she wanted to buy.

The incident took place in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh state.

The woman, who has not been identified, had gone to a Hyundai showroom with her parents to buy a new car.

A salesman invited her to try a vehicle parked inside the showroom.
She got in, started the car and accidentally got it moving.

Unable to control it, she crashed through the glass wall and leapt outside, missing a few other customers but crashing into two parked vehicles.

Local police said no one was injured in the incident.
