Scripting a new low in parenting, a father was seen feeding his toddler son an alcoholic drink.

The incident, which was captured on camera and shared widely on social media, took place in 2018 in Sri Lanka.

According to reports, the father, who has since been arrested by law enforcement officers, was out with his three friends at a beach in Meegalawa, a city in Anuradhapura district of the country’s North Western Province, when he decided to feed his son beer from his bottle.

Police arrested the man after the video gained traction and the man was criticised for his action.

The son was aged one year at the time of the incident.

Police said that the three friends too were arrested.

While in general the global legal age for drinking is 18, in Sri Lanka, a person has to be at least 21 years old in order to legally consume alcoholic drinks.
