A six-year-old boy was successfully rescued alive from a 200-ft well after a 16-hour marathon operation in central India.

The young boy had fallen down a narrow borehole in the village of Manchar Tehsil near Pune, Maharashtra state yesterday (February 20).

Footage captured this morning (February 21) shows the rescue team digging up the ground around the well to reach the boy, and later pulling the young one out by using ropes.

The boy was then taken to doctors for a check and reunited with his family.

The operation was very critical and required constant meticulous planning to avoid any injury to the child. NDRF was successful in this goal where it's members worked painstakingly never losing sight of it. Happy and satisfied that the child is fine and could be rejoined with the family.

As the lower portion is stuck, team is removing earth near it. As it is very close to his body and extreme caution needs to be taken to ensure that it does not cause any injury or suffocation to the child..NDRF team is taking all precautions and using appropriate tools to ensure the task is completed successfully. Doctors have checked him, his vital signs are good, he has been given water and comforted by his family, who are constantly talking with him. Another feet of careful excavation near his waist is being done to free his waist and legs.
