This is the moment a 3-year-old girl was run over by a speeding bike as she stepped out of her house in central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

The accident happened at Dhobi Ghat area on Wednesday afternoon when Palak Sharma came out of her house and was trying to cross over to the other side of the road where her grand mother was lying on a cot.

The speeding bike hit the girl who got entangled in the wheels momentarily and ran over her body and legs.

Fearing backlash from the girl's family and neighbours, the bike fled the scene, but the entire act was caught on a CCTV camera installed out the girl's house.

The biker in question has been identified as Govind Sharma and a case has been filed against him.

Palak's family said that the girl didn't incurred serious injuries in the accident. "For one moment, I thought we lost Palak for ever. But when emerged from under the wheels of the bike, I knew that god was kind to us. Had something happen to her, I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself as the girl was crossing the road to come to me," said her grandmother Sarita Devi.
