This is the heartwarming moment rescuers waded through sinking mud to save a stranded dog after its canine friends alerted locals by barking for help.

Montha Nakkhoom, 52, followed the sound of the three Aspins standing at the edge of the dried-out pond where she noticed the hapless female dog stuck in the middle in Chonburi, Thailand.

Footage taken on Monday (18/02) shows how two rescuers clambered down the 32ft steep banks then waded the waist-deep sludge while trying to catch the poor stray.

The black dog ran away to the other side of the swamp with fear when the officer approached her, so the rescue team came up with the second plan.

One officer went into the mud and tied a lasso around the dog’s body before those standing on the edge of the pond pulled her to safety.

Local resident, Montha, said that the rescue took more than 30 minutes which made the men and the dogs exhausted as the negotiated the filthy terrain.

She said: ‘’I felt so sorry for that poor girl. She looked very tired, hungry, and thirsty. I gave her some food and water before taking her back to her friends and family.

‘’I found these stray dogs were very smart as they were barking and trying to take me to help their friend. They were very impressive because they saved their friend’s life.’’
