failed crash for cash near Haydock

Buy video

Driving my loaded HGV 1 truck to a delivery in Wigan UK. It was a clear sunny day as I was turning out of Haydock industrial estate on the 15. 2. 2019, at around 12:50 in the afternoon, the road was clear of busy traffic, the red car in front of me was just a normal road user, then out of the blue he started to apply his brakes very sharply, causing me to slam my brakes very hard, if I wasn't concentrating 100% I could have run into the back of him or swerved onto the pavement. As you can see in the footage there was a woman on the pavement just before the incident and one just after it. This driver must have timed his actions to avoid any public involvement. Once stopped the driver jumped out and was giving me abuse, when I told him its on dash cam and that I was reporting it to the Police he came back again from his car and was shouting more vile abuse at me. I was in shock and felt a bit ill after this incident and thought to myself that I have just avoided a crash for cash set up. I was to shocked and shaken up to notice if he had any passengers in his car.
