A motorcyclist was badly injured soon after 12 noon on Saturday 23rd February 2019 on the A6024 at Woodhead Reservoir in the High Peak near Glossop (Stockport), in Derbyshire on the road to Holme and Holmfirth in West Yorkshire. This was soon after the rider and his two friends had turned off the A628 near Crowden. Rider 1 had been riding ahead when riders 2 and 3 caught him up and overtook him. Riders 2 and 3 rode ahead overtaking a Mitsubishi L200 pick-up and later slowed to a near stop just after a blind bend, rider 1 also overtook the pick-up and then collided into the back of rider 2. Rider 2 was seriously injured with a badly broken leg. Rider 1 had a suspected broken collar bone. Rider 3 was unhurt. This account was given to me by the driver of the pick-up at the scene. The air ambulance arrived first, followed by the road ambulance and then finally the police attended. The air ambulance doctors and the paramedics attended to the injured man for at least 90 minutes at the roadside before moving him off to the air ambulance.
