An enormous avalanche occurred in north India yesterday (February 23), coming just days after a similar event that buried five Indian soldiers on February 20.

Footage of the most recent event shows how a digger working on National Highway 5 in Kinnaur district, Himchal Pradesh state, was swallowed up by the tide of snow, which spilled out onto the road and advanced further and further towards the filmers.

An avalanche reported in the same area earlier last week killed one Indian soldier and buried another five, necessitating a major rescue effort.

Fortunately no injuries were reported in yesterday's avalanche, though the highway has been completely cut off by the immense snowfall.
