Backpacker Emma Collishaw, from Lincolnshire, blew her back tyre while driving on her own between the Australian cities of Darwin and Townsville on Monday.

She was unable to get the wheel nuts off as they were screwed on so tightly and had to resort to flagging down passing vehicles for help on the almost empty road.

A man called Jason Freyling came along in his road train. Not only did he help change Emmas tyre whilst supplying me with cold drinks. He then offered, once we got to a town; to pay for new tyres for her car, made sure Emma had something for dinner and he paid for her to have a room for the night at a motel.

He would not take anything in return to say thank you (not even a carton of beer!) and he then just got in his truck and continued on his way....
