The north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh created a new record on Feb. 28 by parading at least 500 buses at the ongoing Kumbh mela. The fleet of buses moving along the highway was captured on camera.

The previous best record was held by United Arab Emirates. The Gulf nation had paraded 390 buses on the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Highway in Abu Dhabi, to mark the country’s 39th national day.

Uttar Pradesh toppled the record by using 509 buses, local media reports said.

Video footages showed the saffron colour buses containing the Kumbh logo, moving along the way.

Reports said the buses covered a stretch of 12 kilometres at a single go.

The record-breaking vehicles are all registered under the state-run Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). Reports said the administrative body had all the districts to send in their buses in a bid to attempt the feat.
