This is the moment a brave but ill-advised move backfires landing a man in a hospital from cobra bite.

Manoharan, a resident of Pathanamthitta in South India, spotted an adult five-feet-long cobra inside his home on February 22.

Though shocked, he ignored the advice to call a professional snake catcher and decided to catch it himself. As the snake was struggling to move on the smooth marble floor he thought it was not very threatening.

He managed to pick up the cobra and move it outside. But persuading the reluctant snake to get into a plastic bag turned out to be a challenge.

A friend tried to open the mouth of bag with a long stick to make it easier for the snake to slip in. But the cobra decided against it.

Losing patience, Manoharan decided to take the matter into his own hands. He bent down and opened the bag and tried to shove the snake inside.

The cobra reacted angrily and bit his hand making him retreat instantly. Manoharan was rushed to a hospital where doctors gave him anti-venom shots on time and saved his life.

A professional snake catcher was called to rescue the cobra which had taken refuge under a stone.
