Beautiful Coscoroba Swans on the nest with their cute cygnets
The beautiful Coscoroba Swan (Coscoroba coscoroba) is endemic to southern South America, and is fairly common in Patagonia, occupying mainly freshwater wetlands. This pair of Coscoroba Swans had nested against a flooded fence in the Laguna los Palos on the edge of the very busy main road, Route 9. The female swan was huddled near the four cygnets, sheltering them from the strong wind, while the male stood on the edge of their huge nest, preening occasionally.
