Over 7000 dancers performing Bharatnatyam creates new Guinness records in India
Just few days after the north India state of Uttar Pradesh broke the record for the greatest number of buses paraded on the road, Tamil Nadu, located at the southern side of the country, broke the record for the greatest number of dancers performing a routine, on Sunday.
A video of the event has emerged too.
According to the clip, a large group of dancers were seen flaunting their moves while performing the classical Indian dance form Bharatnatyam.
The feat was achieved after more than 7000 dancers performed the routine for nearly 14 minutes.
Officials had said they would have qualified for the record if people danced in unison for five minutes.
Reports said 7,190 dancers participated during the record breaking attempt, which took place during the Natyanjali fete in Sabanayagar Temple, located in Chidambaram town of Cuddalore district.
The earlier record was created in the state capital Chennai, when 4,525 dancers performed in unison in 2017.
Reports said the dance routine was planned for eight months by the Thillai Natyanjali Trust. The certificate of the record was handed over to Nadaraja Moorthy Dikshithar, treasure of the trust.
The event was adjudged by Rishi Nath, adjudicator, Guinness Book of World Records.
