A kitesurfer was left needing 18 stitches after being chased and mauled by a raging pitbull on a beach in Argentina.

Footage captured on February 20 shows a pitbull running towards the kitesurfer, Gustavo Cerviño, in the shallow waters off the coast of Punta Rasa, in San Clemente del Tuyu.

The raging dog then catches up with Gustavo and bites his upper arm. The kitesurfer then falls into the water.

''I was kitesurfing when I heard a dog barking. All of a sudden I felt the teeth of the dog in my arm. I tried to escape but he wouldn’t let me go,'' Gustavo said.

After a tug-o-war, the dog finally walked away. Gustavo could get up and drove bleeding to the nearest hospital. ''I managed to drive 8km to the hospital where I was given 18 stitches. I lost a lot of blood so I lost consciousness and had to stay in observation for two hours,'' he explained.

Fui a practicar mi deporte preferido a Punta Rasa (San Clemente Del Tuyu) donde va mucha gente a practicar este deporte, estaba navegando y sentí los ladridos de un perro no le di mucha importancia porque suele suceder que te persigan perros pero de golpe sentí en el ante brazo los dientes del perro, me tiro y no me largaba, seguía prendido del brazo hasta que me lo pude sacar del brazo y me tiro un tarascon al cuello que pude evitar por suerte, Cuando pude juntar las cosas de la playa tuve que manejar 8 km mas o menos para llegar al hospital, donde me atendieron muy bien y me dieron 18 puntos, había perdido mucha sangre y después que me dieron los puntos perdí el conocimiento por un momento, esto hizo que me tengan que dar suero y dejar en observación 2 horas
