A woman miraculously escaped with minor injuries after being hit by a local train at Dadar railway station in Mumbai, India.

Indian Railway officials said the woman, who has not been identified, had gotten down on the track to attend nature’s call around 11 pm on March 8.

When she was trying to climb back up on the platform, she failed to notice that a fast train had entered the station.

But the loco-pilot of the train spotted the woman and slammed brakes, but could not stop the train from hitting her.

The incredibly lucky woman got stuck in the gap between the train and the platform and was dragged along with the train before it could come to a halt.

Railway police officials and fellow passengers rushed to help the woman and pulled her out.

The woman had suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment and left the station.

Railway police Inspector Satish Menon said: "The loco-pilot applied the brakes in time and slowed the train and that saved her."
