This is the terrifying moment a car slammed at speed into a tuk-tuk on a road in India.

The incident, which was caught on the car's dashcam, occurred at Chengalpattu-Kanchipuram Highway in South India on February 24.

Incredibly, all the passengers emerged without serious injuries, despite being severely jolted by the collision.

“The car driver, who is from Chengalpettu, paid for the treatment of minor injuries sustained by a few passengers on the tuk-tuk. There were no casualties and no-one filed any complaint,” said a local police officer.

The women in the back compartment are jolted while a man sitting on the edge of the front seat falls down and tumbles over a few times on the highway.

The heartstopping incident occurred at Chengalpattu-Kanchipuram Highway in South India on February 24 and was caught on the 70mai Xiaomi dashcam on board the car, a Suzuki Baleno.

The footage shows the car tailing a tuk tuk which is crowded with passengers.

The tuk tuk driver turns to the left without turning on the indicator. The car driver is unable to slow down in time and hits the tuk tuk, which climbs the road divider under the impact of the collision.

Police officials said none was seriously injured including the man who fell on the ground.
