A dog has adopted an abandoned baby monkey in Central India and is raising it as her own.

The dog and the monkey have become inseparable, according to residents of a village near Seoni Malwa.

The baby monkey drinks milk from the dog and rides on her back.

Locals say the dog pays more attention to the monkey than to her own puppies.

This is a heartwarming story of a dog adopting an abandoned baby monkey and becoming its devoted foster mother.

The monkey was found abandoned by its band at Kanshedi village near Seoni Malwa in central India.

When the village dogs tried to attack it, one of the canines, which had given birth recently, intervened. Though a gentle soul, the dog managed to protect the monkey and went on to adopt it.

The duo soon became inseparable. The baby monkey started drinking milk from the dog and clinging on to its back to get around.

A local resident Pradyumn Bairagi said: “The two have been together for two months. The monkey is now old enough to eat, but it still won’t let go its mother and the dog seems to love it.”
