A massive power outage has plunged crisis-hit Venezuela into darkness for a fifth day, triggering protests across the country.

Footage from last night (March 10) shows residents walking home in the darkness without working public transport.

President Maduro’s government claims the blackout was the result of cyberattacks by the United States and that the Government is working to restore the power.

Self-declared interim president Juan Guaido has called for a massive protest and will ask the National Assembly to declare a ‘state of alarm’ in the South American country.

A blackout has affected Venezuela since last Thursday and forced thousands of people to walk to get to their homes in the absence of public transport.
This is the largest blackout in Venezuela in years.
