Demonstrators gathered outside the US embassy in Bogota to protest against a blackout that has left millions of Venezuelans without power for the past five days.

Footage captured on Monday (March 11) shows protesters holding placards with a message reading 'ONU, despierta' (United Nations, wake up) and colourful Venezuela’s flags.

President Maduro claims the blackout was the result of cyber attacks by the United States and that the Government is working to restore the power.

In the meantime, self-declared interim president Juan Guaido has called for a massive protest that will take place this afternoon (March 12) in Caracas.

The continuing power outage has affected water and food supplies and interrupted communications and public transport.
