An elephant was filmed painting pictures with her trunk in northern Thailand.

The female cow was seen colouring in the outline of elephants on a large white canvas at the Maesa camp in Chiang Mai province, where elephants entertained tourists at the event on March 13, 2019.

The display was part of the celebrations which began on National Elephant Day that has taken place around the country every year since 1998.

As the national animal of Thailand, the Asian elephant is steeped in its culture - even its national flag used to feature an elephant. The Thai government decided to create an annual day of recognition to raise awareness of the importance of elephants.
