This is the moment a wild bear chases a forest worker and mauls him badly during a rescue operation in the Velugodu reservoir of Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh, southern India on March 22nd.
The victim identified as Mr Kumar had come to keep the bear away from the reservoir and chase it towards the wild when the incident took place in front of helpless citizens.
In the video, the bear is seen chasing Mr Kumar to the reservoir and mauling him and injuring him badly as the people burst out in screams in order to scare away the wild animal.
Undeterred by the screams of the people it continued to chase the man and mauls him.
The incident took place as the officers tried tying up the animal but it managed to set itself free and run. It found unarmed Kumar and chased behind him.
Kumar was taken to the Kurnool General hospital to be treated where he is still recuperating under strict doctor’s supervision.
The forest officers finally with the help of the villagers managed to catch hold of the bear and shift it to the forest.
