An adorable manatee calf has been born in Burgers' Zoo in Arnhem, Netherlands.

In the video, the six-day-old manatee can be seen staying close to its mum swimming around their enclosure.

The staff at the zoo could only guess that the Caribbean manatee was pregnant before she gave birth, as she was too large for an ultrasound and marine biologists say the scan would have caused too much unnecessary stress.

Such great news for the Burger's Zoo in Arnhem, Netherlands. A Caribbean manatee was born on the 19th of March 2019 in the early hours. In this video the Manatee is just 3 days old. It's cuteness overload. The gestation period is about 12 month. The staff could only guess that she might be pregnant from her swollen nipples, but couldn't perform an ultrasound as it would have been too stressful for the animal. They say it might be a boy. Just look at the size difference between mum and calf. The baby keeps suckling on mums nipple, which is located behind mum's flipper. Even dad comes over to have a look.
